I inked up each collagraph plate and placed them on a registration sheet that was created to line up with the background of the print. I flipped some of the animals upside down and on their side to create a comedic tone and to give the sensation they are being sucked up into the UFO. The UFO originally printed as pure-black despite selectively rubbing down sections to make them lighter after inking. I corrected this by ghost printing a layer of white softly on-top to add tone and texture to match with the rest of the print.

I am really happy with how this print turned out. The large scale compliments the unrealistic proportion of the animals compared to one another. My classmate Alva commented that it appeared like a “Reverse Noah’s Arc”. I find this concept really interesting and would like to create a second version of the print with two of each animal to reflect the Biblical story. I titled the work ‘Roswell N.M’ after the 1947 Roswell Incident which created a number of UFO conspiracy theories.
